Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can expect learning which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
